Synology offers several backup applications, but two names appear repeatedly when businesses start building a data-protection strategy: Hyper Backup and Active Backup for Business (ABB).
They may both contain the word “backup,” but they solve different problems.
Hyper Backup primarily protects data and configurations stored on the Synology NAS by copying them to another destination. If the only backup of every company workstation resides on the same NAS, what happens if that NAS is stolen, destroyed, or affected by a site-level disaster? Keeping another recovery copy outside the primary failure domain strengthens the architecture.
